First Down is proven to be one of the complete and influential bulls in the Limousin breed. He is a multi-trait leader and is the breed’s #1 ranked sire for stayability. He is the sire of the most focus dams in the Limousin breed. The success of a program is dependent on cows that produce and stay in the herd. First Down tops the stayability list with a score of 32. The next best sire in this trait has an EPD of 25. First Down is an excellent choice for producing Lim-Flex females.

Dear Cattlemen,

What more can we say. The Coleman Limousin bulls have made a huge difference in our calf crop. They hold up well in the high country, and brisket has not been a problem. We also bred our yearling heifers to COLE First Down and were extremely happy, we only had trouble with four calves out of 125 head. The average birth weight was about 70 to 75 pounds. These calves were born the end of February and weaned the first of October weighing 600 pounds. We are very excited about the switch to Coleman genetics and look forward to the future!

Sincerely,
Big Meadow Ranch
Tate and Kelly Jo Scanga

Big Meadow Ranch have used First Down on their heifers now for two years. They have bred over 200 heifers to First Down with very little calving difficulty. Tate said last year’s calves sired by First Down were the heaviest group of calves his heifers had ever weaned.

COLE Black Tank was a favorite member of our 2005 carload. We are very excited about his first two calf crops. He ranks in the top 5% in the breed for weaning weight, top 20% for yearling weight and top 1% for scrotal. Five of his sons were in our 2007 People’s Choice Champion Carload. Five of his sons were also in our 2008 People’s Choice Champion Carload. Black Tank sired an impressive set of embryo calves out of COLE Katy May 050K.

Thunder and Toolbox highly exemplify Symposium Breed Improvement Directives. Thunder posted an unheard of 1603 pound yearling weight with an impressive 3.78 IMF, 17.9 REA, and only 0.12 BF. Toolbox’s carcass numbers are unmatched; he scanned a 19.2 adjusted REA with a 133 ratio, along with a 4.47 IMF with a 143 ratio. The dam of Toolbox also had outstanding carcass numbers; she scanned an adjusted REA of 15.7 with a ratio of 128 and 4.19 IMF with a ratio of 105.
